Insulation Division FAQ

General Insulation Questions

What types of insulation do you install?

Spray foam (open cell and closed cell foam), fiberglass, dense pack fiberglass and blown cellulose.

How do I know if my home needs more insulation?

You may need more insulation if your home feels drafty, rooms are unevenly heated or cooled, or your energy bills are higher than expected. Additional signs can include visible gaps or compressed insulation, ice dams on the roof, cold floors or walls, and moisture or mold issues.

What’s the difference between spray foam and tradtional insulation?

Spray foam insulation is 44% more efficient than traditional fiberglass insulation. It works by expanding to fill gaps and create an air-tight, moisture-resistant seal with a higher R-Value. Traditional insulation like fiberglass slows heat transfer but doesn’t seal air leaks.

What exactly does R-Value mean?

R-Value measures how well insulation resists heat flow, especially when talking about traditional fiberglass insulation – the higher the R-Value, the better it keeps your home warm in the winter and cool in the summer.

How long does insulation last?

Both spray foam insulation and fiberglass insulation can last at least 20-30 years when properly installed. While spray foam insulation is more prone to maintaining its performance overtime, fiberglass insulation can have decreased effectiveness over time as it becomes compressed, wet, or damaged.

Can you insulate older homes or only new construction?

We can insulate both older homes and new construction. Spray foam or fiberglass can be installed in existing walls, attics, and crawl spaces to improve comfort and energy efficiency, no matter the age of your home.

Cost & Savings

How much does insulation cost?

The cost of insulation depends on the type, size of the area, and your home’s needs. Fiberglass is typically considered to be more affordable, while spray foam costs more upfront but offers higher energy efficiency and long-term savings. For this reason, we are happy to offer free estimates to help provide better insight into the cost of your project.

Will insulation lower my energy bills? If so, by how much?

Yes! Proper insulation helps your home retain heat in the water and stay cool in the summer, which can lower energy bills by 10-45% depending on your home and the type of insulation used.

Do you offer free estimates?

Yes, estimates are always free!

Are there financing options?

We do not offer financing at this time, but we will always work to provide a solution that fits your needs. You can always pay online using credit card if that’seasiest for you.

Installation Process

How long does it take to install insulation?

Installation time depends on the size of the area and the type of insulation. Most projects are 1-2 days with some of the largest projects taking around 5 days. We spend the time ensuring jobs are done correctly and go the extra mile.

Will I need to leave my home during installation?

For fiberglass insulation, you typically don’t need to leave your home. For spray foam insulation, it’s recommended to vacate the area during installation and to allow for proper post-install ventilation.

Is there a lot of mess or clean up involved?

Fiberglass insulation can create some dust, but our team takes precautions to minimize mess and clean up as much as possible when completed. Spray foam insulation is applied neatly and expands in place, with very little clean up required once installation is complete.

Do you remove old insulation before installing new insulation?

It’s best practice to remove any wet, compressed or pest infested insulation prior to installing additional insulation. We can evaluate this during our visit to do what is best for your unique situation.

Health & Safety

Is spray foam insulation safe for my family and pets?

Yes, spray foam insulation is safe. During installation, it’s recommended that people and pets leave the area until and ensure proper ventilation of the space.

Does insulation help with allergies, moisture, or mold problems?

Yes! Proper insulation – especially spray foam – helps reduce drafts, limits moisture buildup, and can prevent mold growth. By creating a tighter, moisture resistant barrier, it can also help reduce dust and allergens entering your home.

Can insulation reduce outside noise?

Yes! Both spray foam and fiberglass insulation can help reduce outside noise by absorbing sound and minimizing vibrations, making your home quieter and more comfortable.

Maintenance & Warranty

Does insulation need maintenance?

Insulation doesn’t generally require maintenance. However, it’s a good idea to inspect it occasionally for signs of moisture, damage, or settling, especially in older homes, to ensure it continues performing efficiently.

What kind of warranty do you offer?

We stand behind our product and our workmanship. If there are concerns, you should call us so we can evaluate and correct any issues.

Will insulation settle or break down over time?

Fiberglass insulation can settle or compress over time, which may reduce its effectiveness. Spray foam insulation maintains its shape and performance much longer when properly installed.
